Educational Programs
for
High School and College Students

is an educational program specifically for high school students preparing for apparel and textile-related careers.  This instructional activity will focus on advancing the awareness and use of cotton among high school students. The files within include an adaptable lesson plan and a menu of varied learning activities, including hands-on labs and web-based activities focusing on advancing the awareness and use of cotton. Our focus is to reach teens with a relevant and engaging message about features of cotton that make it a fiber of choice for future professionals and consumers of fashion and textiles who care about the environment. 

addresses cotton fiber’s properties as a natural, comfortable, durable and versatile fiber, with the goal of increasing student awareness and knowledge. Learning activities will use the Cotton Incorporated website as a central source for on-line activities, information and inspiration.

Cottonecology is an educational program developed by Old Dominion University's Fashion Program specifically for high school and college students of textile, fashion merchandising, and related fields. This project will focus on teaching students about the properties of cotton as a renewable, recyclable, and sustainable fiber.  Our goal is to increase student awareness and knowledge of about cotton and its environmentally friendly properties.
